Muscle Activation Technique
(MAT)
Weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for
other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the
joint. MAT gets to the root of pain or injury by addressing
muscle weakness rather than muscle tightness. MAT helps to
restore normal body alignment, decrease pain, and reduce risk of
injury.

Primal Reflex
Release Technique (PRRT)
Once an injury occurs, the muscles "splint" to
protect the region. The "splinting" often remains long after the
injury is apparently resolved. Quick movements may be difficult
or impossible as the patient is “guarded” in efforts to use the
injured region. PRRT is designed to down-regulate or normalize
the pain the reflex is causing in guarding the muscular system.
The normalization of protective reflexes, i.e. use of PRRT, can
and does make the difference between full and partial recovery.

PT Talks available to Groups:
One aim of Performance PT is to provide injury
prevention education and information on how to speed up your
recovery. Our therapists have given talks and injury consults
at local health fairs, including the Senior Center, the Aspen
Club, Canyon Concert Ballet, and the Post Polio Group. If your
group is interested in learning more about injury prevention or
MAT and PRRT, please contact us.
